Designed as a replacement to the MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer) and MCAD (Microsoft Certified Applications Developer) certifications, the MCPD (Microsoft Certified Professional Developer) represents changes in both technology and business needs. Unlike the MCSD and MCAD - which are very broad and generic - the MCPD is more specialised in key areas. The candidate wishing to undertake this program and become a developer, can choose one or several paths to specialise in, which are based around ASP.NET 3.5 (pronounced ‘dot net'), Visual Studio 2005/2008, and Enterprise.
The MCPD is ideal for any individual particularly looking at developing Windows-based applications such as online emailing programs, or working in the area of web development.
Prior experience in programming are recommended for anyone wishing to study in this field. The candidate should also have an acute attention to detail and the ability to grasp mathematical concepts. With its close attention to business needs, this career path offers the scope to work in other roles such as consulting.
Take a look at the syllabus to learn more about the areas you can specialise in. Our MCPD package gives you access to all areas of specialisation, allowing you to make the decision of which path to choose.
A student can obtain an MCPD by passing the exams in one of the four areas below. S/he can gain up to a maximum of four MCPDs in different areas.
