This is a great package for anyone looking at starting a career in IT. It's designed specifically for people with very little experience in computer technology. As long as you know how to use Windows and the internet, you should be off to a good start.
We start this program with the bare basics such as understanding how to properly navigate your way through an operating system. This is very important for anyone wanting to work in IT Support as many common problems occur within the OS (Operating System) environment. Understanding how to use the OS properly will help you to troubleshoot problems. From here the course curriculum advances to the hardware side of computing. You'll learn how to dismantle a PC, replace parts and understand what certain components look like and how they function. From here we progress to the more advanced aspects of IT support such as learning how to build and maintain computer networks - which allows computers to communicate with one another. This will include learning about servers and how they affect networks, particularly security issues and how to deal with them. The last few modules help to refine your skills and prepare you to deal with people or businesses that have technical issues.
It is not necessary to complete every module on this course to gain full-time employment in IT Support. The CompTIA A+ alone will provide sufficient skills to work in this area. The candidate may choose to go on to enhance their skills and increase their employment prospects by completing the remaining MCTS and MCITP modules if they feel up to it. These remaining modules act as a taster for those wishing to explore more advanced areas.
